If you want to certify your system on Stage 1 of HITECH Certification, there is still time!
While the Final Rule was released to the public yesterday, it has not yet officially been published in the Federal Register. Once it is published in the Federal Register, it typically becomes effective 30 days later.
The good news for those people who wish to certify on Stage 1 is that the Temporary Certification Program does not sunset until the ONC Final Rule is effective. On the date that the ONC Final Rule becomes effective, ATCB’s can no longer accept new contracts to certify systems on the Temporary Certification Program – Stage 1.
The Office of the Federal Register’s Public Inspection Desk states that the CMS Final Rule (MU Incentives) is set to be published on 9/4/12. There is currently no date listed for the ONC Final Rule (Certification).
